Myrtle Beach July '11

After Bryce's externship, our little family needed a little R&R so we packed up the car and headed South to Myrtle Beach, SC. This year we stayed in a small 1 bedroom condo that was about a mile from the beach. While it was not ideal to be a mile from the beach, it was the best bang for our buck and WAY better than camping the heat and humidity . It was a cute little condo on a golf course and it fit our families needs great. Brynlee really liked swimming in the pools. We quickly decided that the beach was way to hot for a 3 month old during the middle of the day so we spent most of our time at the beach first thing in the morning and in the evenings. Logan was such a trooper though. He is so great and was pretty happy most of our trip. We found that staying under the piers made it easier to keep his fair skin fair during the day.
Brynlee had a blast playing in the sand. She was really great to stay right with us and came up with the greatest games. She has such an imagination and it is so fun to watch it come out of her. She also spent a great deal of time finding, catching, naming and playing with sand fleas, which are kind of like a little crabby thing.
A couple of evenings we headed down to the boardwalk to check out the "night life" and we found this fun quarter arcade. Brynlee couldn't have been more excited. One night we were playing games there and the owner came over and "hit the jackpot" on a games. He got about 500 tickets out of the machine and handed all of them to Brynlee. You should have seen her face! It was so fun for her to pick out all of the toys and candy at the little prize shop. They also had all kinds of entertainers walking around on the boardwalk. We happened upon a pirate with a parrot. Brynlee was a fascinated with the bird.
We also went to a big outdoor mall that had all sorts of different of stores. Brynlee, of course, was drawn to the candy store. We gave her $2 and let her buy her own candy. She thought she was so big paying for her own candy. She was so cute handing her candy and money to the girl behind the counter all by herself. The kids were more than great on the drive to and from the beach. It was a much needed break from the everyday rut that I found myself in after a summer of being on my own with two small kids.
